There is one additional piece of travel luggage I don’t go anywhere without. This week we’ve gone over the Patagonia Black Hole duffel bag, Eagle Creek packing cubes, and now I’m going to discuss my favorite toiletries bag. This bag is not your dad‘s zipper top toiletry bag. This is a hanging contraption that also integrates a clear plastic bag so you don’t have to do anything besides pull out your bag and flop it open when going through a security checkpoint at the airport. That’s just one of the many features these new role style bags have.
When I go into any standard hotel room I feel a like single man (aka me 10 months ago) designed the bathroom sink. These sinks are usually only big enough to hold one toothbrush, a flosser, and maybe a hairbrush if you’re lucky. This can be a bit of an issue if you have more than one person staying in the room or if you pack the whole bathroom cabinet like my wife does. However, this is where the hanging toiletry bag shines. You can hang it from the door or the towel rack next to your bathroom sink and access all of your toiletries without taking any counter space.
Another great feature of this bag is the scalability. When I used one of the old style zippered pouches it took up a ton of space in my bag even if I only brought one or two items. This roller style toiletry bag has a strap that adjusts to tighten or loosen the roll depending on how many items you bring with you. This means the bag can expand to accommodate a five day trip and shrink down when you’re on an overnight trip. One small drawback is the fact that your items must be placed inside of a pouch because if they’re loose in the center of the bag they can fall out the side. This isn’t all bad because it forces you to get organized and put everything back and it’s the correct place (let’s be honest, we all know I love an organized bag).
As we established in this week‘s previous blogs, traveling can be a little bit stressful sometimes. By using the items we talked about this week you can make packing and traveling around just a little bit easier. These shower roll toiletries bags save counter space, shrink down to fit in your bag, and make airport security a breeze. Anything that makes traveling this easy is a must have. So what are you waiting for? Replace that worn out zipper bag with a sleek new shower roll toiletries bag. Check out my favorite shower roll from REI co-op.
